Where I ate: Savion’s Place & Vintage Vino, Kissimmee

While in Florida with the Kissimmee Canada crew, I donned my scary Halloween apparel and hit up Savion’s Place for Halloween. And by “scary” I mean my neon green butterfly mask was an afterthought when we all realized we didn’t bring costumes with us. Considering how much work I usually put into costumes, this was a tragic day for me. The Halloween enthusiasts on Dakin Avenue were out in full force, however, and I’m pretty sure I saw Marilyn Monroe making out with Cat Woman while waltzing on the sidewalk.

Anyway.

This restaurant was intimate and cozy with spectacular service. Our menu was also paired with wines from Vintage Vino, located next door. We dropped in there after eating for more wine…shocking, I know. But it might have been my favourite little venue in Kissimmee, with a really casual setting and lots of lounge space.

They do like to massacre books, however. Not okay.

My menu

For appetizers, we had Maryland crab cakes with fresh peppers and creamy horseradish, paired with Indaba South African chardonnay.

For my main I ordered a stuffed chicken breast filled with chorizo and boursin cheese, with sweet potato mash and sautéed spinach. This was paired with a dry still white pinot grigio, DueTorri. Other options included marinara chicken linguini, blackened salmon, and pork rib eye. I didn’t order dessert, on account of the wine and all, but rumour has it a mango guava cheesecake had shown up to be sassy and ridiculous.

I too feel strongly about book integrity. All of my books look like they’ve never been read. I’ve never understood people who complain about books falling apart. Do they just drive over them repeatedly with a car or something?

Hahahahaha. I get ragey when someone beats up a book of mine. So basically I’ve just stopped lending out my books.
